Two Separate Incidents of Sexual Assault Reported in Tinsukia over the weekend

Tinsukia, Assam: In a disturbing turn of events, two separate cases of sexual assault involving minor girls have been reported in Tinsukia, Assam, over the weekend.

In the first case, a 55-year-old man, identified as Amar Chakraborty, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a minor girl. The incident reportedly took place on Saturday evening at a shop near Life Line Hospital in Tinsukia. The family of the minor victim filed a complaint at the Tinsukia police station, which led to Chakraborty’s prompt arrest by the authorities.

The second incident occurred earlier on Saturday in Sripuria, Tinsukia, where a man named Jun Haloi allegedly attempted to molest a young girl under the pretext of offering her chocolates. The Tinsukia police swiftly intervened, rescuing the girl. Although Haloi initially fled the scene, he was later apprehended during a series of nighttime raids.

Haloi is now facing charges under Case No. 295/24, including violations of Section 75(2) Bns, read with Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Tinsukia Sadar Police Station.

Both incidents have sparked outrage and concern among the local community, highlighting the urgent need for increased vigilance and stronger measures to protect children from such crimes. The police have assured the public that they are committed to ensuring justice for the victims and taking all necessary steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
