Update Now: The carcass of a one-horned rhino was discovered in Kaziranga National Park on Friday morning. The dead rhino was found along the Kohora forest range near the Diphlu River.

Forest officials promptly arrived at the scene upon notification and stated that the rhino is believed to have succumbed to age-related ailments.

This incident follows the discovery of another dead rhino last month in Kaliabor, located in Assam’s Nagaon district. The carcass was found near the Kaliabor Tea Estate, and notably, the rhino’s horn was still intact at the time of recovery. This has led to speculations that the rhino died a natural death rather than being killed by poachers.

The repeated occurrences of rhino deaths in the region underscore the importance of continuous monitoring and conservation efforts to protect this endangered species.
