Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Unveils ‘Khel Maharan’ Logo, Jersey, and Theme Song for November Event

Guwahati, Assam: Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, graced the release ceremony of the logo, jersey, and theme song of ‘Khel Maharan,’ held at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati on Friday. ‘Khel Maharan’ is poised to become a significant sports event in the state’s calendar, with the Assam government, under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership, making enthusiastic preparations for its launch on November 1st.

According to official statements, more than 50 lakh aspiring sportspersons are expected to participate and compete in five sporting disciplines – Athletics (100m, 200m, 400m & 800m), Football, Kabaddi, Volleyball, and Kho-Kho.

To provide opportunities for athletes across various age groups, the competition will be organized in four distinct categories: Under 19 (Men), Under 19 (Women), Above 19 (Men), and Above 19 (Women).

‘Khel Maharan’ will be a multi-location sporting extravaganza with state-level events scheduled in key cities across Assam, including Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Silchar, Kokrajhar, and Diphu. Each of these locations will serve as the final event venue for specific sporting disciplines, adding a regional flair to the competition.

This initiative underscores the state government’s commitment to promoting sports and nurturing talent from the grassroots, aligning with its broader vision to bolster Assam’s reputation as a breeding ground for sporting excellence. The unveiling of the logo, jersey, and theme song marks another significant step towards realizing this goal.
